Sub-Units
The Headquarters Sub-Unit is based at Ruaraka. The main responsibilities ranged from quelling civil disturbances, protection of vital government installations, VIP protection and other operational assignments in Nairobi and beyond.

Recce sub-unit is a GSU specialized sub-unit with its headquarters at Ruiru in Kiambu County and deployed across the country.
Presidential guard Sub-unit is vested with the mandate of offering security to State Houses, State Lodges, the first family, Former Heads of State, Former Vice President and their residences. As a dedicated outfit of the General Service Unit charged with the operation of the highest office, it has intensified the security checks and screening of vehicles and persons accessing the facilities.
The NPC Embakasi ‘B’ Campus is one of the seven police training colleges in Kenya. It specializes in Basic Training (newly recruited officers to Kenya Police Service) Promotional Training, and Capacity-Building Training. The campus forms an integral part of the General Service Unit (GSU). Annually, the college trains an average of 5,000 officers of various cadres. It is headed by a Commanding Officer.
The National Police Service College Magadi Field Campus is an extension of the National Police College Embakasi B Campus, dedicated to offer field and practical training to all the trainees undergoing various courses at the training institution.
