NPSC Magadi FTC

The National Police Service College Magadi Field Campus is an extension of the National Police College Embakasi B Campus, dedicated to offer field and practical training to all the trainees undergoing various courses at the training institution.

The campus is located in Kajiado County about 86 kilometers South East of Nairobi. To the South East of the camp there is Embalbal Osalei hill (Mt. Wambua), to the South West Olentonai hill, to the North Olmakati hill and Olkeju Ngiro River. Temperatures within the area get to highs of 42 degrees Celsius with the lowest temperatures experienced being 28 degrees Celsius.

Before the camp was relocated to its current location, trainees used to receive their special training in Kawap area within Samburu County from the year 1973 to 1978 after which the camp was relocated to Ol Pejeta region within Laikipia County in 1978.

The journey to getting the best training area for the GSU trainees went on and in 1979 the camp was moved to Kajiado County at the foot of Ngong hills and later to Kora area in Magadi, 1.4 Kilometres off the Nairobi- Magadi road in 1980, before it was later moved to its current location in 1981. During this time, the Commanding Officer was the Late RPJ Morgan alias Bob Morgan (S/ACP) and Officer Commanding Junior Training Wing being Mr. Omar Bashir (SP).

During this period, the trainers were from the United States of America and Israel as well as instructors from the General Service Unit.

RT hill used to be called Mt. Recruits and Embalbal hill was renamed Mt. Wambua on 14th July 1981, when the then Sgt Charles Wambua Kamito alias “Umeme” - a field craft and minor tactics instructor - dressed in full "CEFO" managed to climb up and down the mountain in a record time of ten minutes and five seconds, a record which stands to date.

In 1980 the Magadi Field Training Camp currently the National Police Service College, Magadi Field Campus was established.

The National Police Service College, Magadi Field campus offers conducive environment for operational training which prepares officers for duties within and outside our country.
