NPC Embakasi B Campus

The NPC Embakasi ‘B’ Campus is one of the seven police training colleges in Kenya. The college is situated approximately 5 kilometers North-East of the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi. It specializes in Basic Training (newly recruited officers to Kenya Police Service) Promotional Training, and Capacity-Building Training. The campus forms an integral part of the General Service Unit (GSU). Annually, the college trains an average of 8,000 officers of various cadres. It is headed by a Commanding officer.

The college was established in 1969 and was then known as ‘The General Service Unit Training School’. The compelling factor for its formation was to train specialized police officers.The Name GSU Training School was changed to the current Name National Police College Embakasi ‘B’ Campus in the 2017 when National police standardized all her training colleges to the international standards.

The campus is headed by a commanding officer (CO) assisted by the Deputy Commanding officer. The campus is then divided into two main divisions;The Instruction Division headed by the Chief Instructor that deals with all trainings and the Administrative Division headed by the Adjutant that deals with all campus administrative matters.

This division is headed by the Campus Chief Instructor. It is divided into three wings for training management and further into Faculties for training implementation. The wings are;

1. The Basic Training Wing.

2. The Leadership and Supervisory Wing

3. The Curriculum development, Research and Evaluation wing.

 

There are seven main faculties at NPC Embakasi ‘B’ Campus. They include;

  1. Faculty of Criminal Investigation.
  2. Faculty of Legal Studies.
  3. Faculty of police Technology
  4. Faculty of Field Operations.
  5. Faculty of Police Professionalism.
  6. Faculty of leadership and Management.
  7. Faculty of Police Community Relations and Cross-Cultural studies

This division is headed by a Campus Adjutant. The division is subdivided into sections. The main sections in the campus include; Catering section, Band section, Campus dispensary, Stores section, Transport section, Garrison Section, Campus police Section and Pioneer section.

 

The training for both senior and junior courses is two phased (Theory and Practical). The theory part is undertaken at NPC Embakasi ‘B’ Campus while the practical part is conducted at NPSC Magadi Field Campus, Kajiado county.

 

In enhancing the instructors' skills and knowledge, the campus collaborates with other agencies both nationally and internationally and offers training to other security agencies in operational policing.
